100 – 100th Anniversary Exhibition of Frans Toikkanen and
Ansu – Printmaker Anneli Klemola, 16th May - 13th September DINING
Printmaker and sculptor Frans “Fransu” Toikkanen (1926-2008) was a farmer from
Saarijärvi who became one of the leading figures in Finnish contemporary printmaking SHOPPING AND
in the 1970s. His spouse, printmaker Anneli “Ansu” Klemola (born in 1935), graduated SERVICES
from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 1959 as a painter. Klemola is, however, best
known as a printmaker for her bold woodcuts characterised by strong, vibrant colours.

Tapperien Juhola Gallery, Jarska, 13th June - 23rd August
Sculptor Joakim Sederholm (born in 1969) from Porvoo seeks to express humanity
through his work. His sculptures address what it means to be human, as well as
experiences of difference and belonging. Sederholm works with wood, ceramics,
sheet metal, bronze and combinations of these materials.
Saarat – Art by Saara Pylvänäinen and Saara Vallineva,
1st October 2026 - 10th January 2027
Saara Pylvänäinen (1936-2016) lived and worked for most of her life in Hoikankylä,
Saarijärvi. Inspired by the nature of Central Finland, Pylvänäinen is known for her
Piikkana textiles® and her painting. Visual artist and writer-illustrator Saara Vallineva
(born in 1982) uses local and found materials in her work. Her works draw inspiration
from folk art, handicrafts, maps and cultural heritage sites.
