RENAULT TRUCKS LAUNCHED
EV RANGE
Renault Trucks has unveiled its new 100% electric vehicles
range. These are Master Z.E, D Z.E and D Wide Z.E, a range
of 3.5 to 26T. Available next September, the Master Z.E utility
comes in six versions (four vans and two floor-cab). Its cargo
volume is identical to that of a diesel model, with batteries
placed under the front seats. Six hours are needed to fully
charge the battery, while the announced range is 120 km. The
D Z.E. and the D Wide Z.E will be available in 2019, in 16 and
26T versions, respectively. The lithium-ion batteries of D Z.E.
and D Wide Z.E. can be fully recharged in one to two hours,
via a 150kW DCS Combo plug. For an overnight AC charging, it
takes twelve hours for a 300kWh battery.
BRAND
VW TRUCK & BUS UNIT
TO BE RENAMED TRATON
Volkswagen Group will rename its truck and bus
division Traton Group as it prepares to raise funds
for a global expansion into commercial vehicles.
VW Truck & Bus CEO Andreas Renschler said
the new brand name gives the group a separate,
new identity from parent Volkswagen Group.
Volkswagen Truck & Bus is integrating the MAN
and Scania divisions and has taken a stake in U.S.
truck-maker Navistar to challenge rivals Daimler
and Volvo. The name change at Truck & Bus will
take effect by the third quarter of this year.

ELIMINATES SOME MOTORWAY
TOLLS
Spanish motorway will become free for users by the end of 2021.
Part of the 3,307km of motorways currently under concession
will be exempted from tolls. Initially, the 84km between Burgos
and Armiñón on the AP1 will be exempted from November
2018 and in November 2019, two other portions will also be
freed of all tolls: the AP4 between Seville and Cadiz (94km) and
the AP7 between Tarragona and Alicante (474km). According
to the figures of the federation of Spanish carriers Fenadismer,
240,000 trucks pay each year to travel on toll motorways, at an
average cost of €1,900 per vehicle, per year.
