partners (Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and
Ireland). The total amount of trade passing through the
Tunnel each year has increased to almost €140 billion, with
imports and exports being almost equal. This represents
hundreds of thousands of jobs on both sides of the Channel
and this value has increased significantly over the last two
years. In addition, millions of passengers also use the Tunnel,
both with their cars and by train.

DKV is preparing to launch a new electronic toll
box, which should be interoperable progressively in
Belgium, Austria, France, Germany, Spain, and
Portugal by 2019. Technically, the housing and the
European Electronic Toll System (SET) were designed
and manufactured by Siemens. The test phase is
planned for summer 2018, and the delivery of the first
boxes is planned for next September.
