Spitsbergen. The largest and most well known island in the Svalbard archipelago. Longyearbyen
is the main settlement and the administration centre of Svalbard with an airport. Sometimes all
of Svalbard is referred to as Spitsbergen, which is the original Dutch name of the islands.

Isfjorden. Svalbard's largest fjord system, extending nearly all the way across Spitsbergen from
Cape Linné in the west to the Von Post glacier in the east. There are several famous fjords
within the Isfjorden system, which include Adventfjorden, Tempelfjorden and Sassenfjorden.

Prins Karls Forland. A long, narrow island that runs along the west coast of Spitsbergen, with
a varied landscape of coastal plains, high mountain peaks and several smaller glaciers. It also
has the world’s most northern population of harbour seals.
