DOC’s

Diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC) are open
filters, that oxidize CO -> CO2; HC -> CO2 +
H2O, NO -> NO2.

CO2 (Carbon Dioxicle) and H2O (water /
vapor) are harmless gases in the nature,
but NO2 (Nitrogen Dioxide) is a poisonous
gas, but is needed to ensure right Diesel
Particle Filter (DPF) regeneration. Also a
very important feature for DOC is that
it generates heat, so exhaust gases are
warmer after DOC than before. This as
well is a very important point for well
functioning exhaust system with DOC
and DPF, because DPF needs certain
temperature to ensure regeneration.
All this means that the right amount
of precious metal (Pt; Pd etc.) coating
is mandatory to ensure proper function
of complete exhaust system - the most
important features are substrate material,
coating, CPSI (channels per square inch).

Dinex uses both metallic and ceramic
substrates.
