Saarijärvi is a beautiful, lively city in Central Finland, only 45 minutes from Jyväskylä

by car. The location combines the tranquillity of nature and the comforts of urban
life: lake vistas, culture, sport and physical exercise, job opportunities and training
make it an ideal place to reside in and visit.
This guide helps you to find the city’s best services and activities all year round.
For families, Activity Park Veijari offers fun things to do, and for nature enthusiasts
Pyhä-Häkki National Park, Julmat lammit hiking area, Haikankärki peninsula, and
Kulhanvuori forest preserve provide splendid adventures. In the winter, Paavonrinteet
Ski Centre and ski trails get you up and on the move.
In the summer, Saarijärvi pulses with special events – the traditional Kirmot festival
and musical/cultural happenings as well as the Torstaikeikat concerts in Runebergin-
puisto Park bring fun and enjoyment for all ages. Cultural destinations worth visiting
include Saarijärvi Museum, Juhola and Ahku Art Gallery. This summer motoring fans
will enjoy the Saarijärvi Rally, set to begin on 19 July, with start and finish located in
the city centre at Villenkulma. Finland’s National Krolf Championships will provide
a slightly more relaxed spectator experience on 26 July, 2025.
