CULTURE AND The culture trail, put together by the Friends of the Saari-
DESTINATIONS järvi museum, the Saarijärvi museum, and the city of
Saarijärvi, delves into the history of Saarijärvi village and
NATURE the local cultural heritage through a number of des-
DESTINATIONS tinations along the Paavontie road. Just over two kilo-
metres long, the trail ends at Saarijärvi museum, where
THINGS TO DO the cultural heritage of Saarijärvi has been recorded, re-
searched, and exhibited for almost 40 years.

The culture trail starts at the beginning of Paavontie
road, at the Tarvaala vicarage near Palvasalmi strait, in
the house originally built for the chaplain in 1689. The trail
follows the current Paavontie road all the way to Saari-
järvi museum. You can also follow the trail from the mu-
seum to the Tarvaala vicarage, as information boards
along the route provide details of the destinations and a
brochure is available for navigation.
